Physical and mental benefits when practicing Karate-Do

1.Strength and endurance

Karate provides a full-body workout that targets improvements in cardiovascular capabilities, muscular toning, and stamina. There's no denying that Karate is one of the best total body workouts around. It combines cardio, endurance training, and muscles toning while burning excessive fat.

During a high-intensity Karate class, you'll constantly be moving. Through the training, your heart rate will be raised significantly, which means that you'll burn calories in the process, as a result of using the arms and legs to perform kicks and parades, karate training develops muscles in a UNIFORM way. If in the case of other sports complementary activities are needed, because the upper or lower limbs are left "behind" the others, here there is no need for such a thing. In addition to the fact that muscle mass will change for the better, you will notice that you are more resilient and much more agile than before.

2.Respiration and blood circulation

All workouts include a 20-30 minute section in which basic techniques are repeated (Kihon). Their purpose is not to get bored (although sometimes they do) but to stimulate the circulatory and respiratory systems. You can watch these minutes as a little walk around the aerobics.

Karate is the effect it has on your cardiovascular system. Karate exercises will get your blood pumping and will put a specific demand on your heart, allowing you to improve your heart health.

Karate training works on major muscle groups of the human body. The practice will improve your heart rate as well as increase your oxygen intake. Karate is without the shadow of a doubt, an excellent option for conditioning and training your complete cardiovascular system.

With better heart health, you will decrease the risk of heart-related diseases and stroke.

3. Nervous and muscular system

In general, exercise strengthens bones and helps slow down the process of osteoporosis. Due to the structuring and concentration requirements, karate training improves attention, thinking, develops reflexes, reaction speed and coordination.

4.Flexibility and balance

Karate, ballet and gymnastics are activities that make the most of the body's motor capacity. Stretching, hitting and other karate movements will help increase muscle and joint flexibility so that you can do different postures, exercises and movements better over time. Even if you are a little more rigid, after a few months of training you will be amazed by the progress. The basic idea is that nothing is achieved immediately, but that through hard work you can improve the sectors that until then were unfulfilled dreams.

5.Psychological benefits

Stress management in karate is manifested through several training methods and techniques that include breathing and relaxation techniques. According to experts, these exercises can help reduce stress and anxiety.

Karate training is full of deep breathing exercises, similar to yoga techniques, which produce a calming effect. Any regular exercise is scientifically proven to relieve stress, increase self-confidence, generally improve mental health and general well-being. Self-confidence increases and depressive tendencies decrease but all this must be sustained and practically pushed from behind a little for to move on

6.Improve Energy & Vitality

There is one huge benefit of Karate that will benefit you in almost every aspect of your life: energy. Numerous testimonials have shown time and time again that Karate helps you feel more energetic and alert over time.

I am sure you’ve noticed that Karate training creates an increased need for oxygen. As a consequence greater intake of oxygen, our lung capacity also increases with training.

After a while, with regular Karate training, your cardiovascular capacity will naturally increase, enabling your body to release a larger volume of oxygen to your brain and bloodstream, helping you feel a lot more vigilant, sharp, and ready to go. Regular Karate practice will make, without any doubt, a significant difference in your energy level and mood.

7.Performance in learning and career

Due to the permanent need for concentration, learning abilities increase. Martial arts practitioners will learn to focus only on the ongoing activity and to make an exception for everything that happens around them. This brings with it superior learning outcomes, due to the most useful part of the study hours.

8. Motivation

The fact that several times a week at a certain time you have to be in the gym and perform a certain activity, brings an improvement from a motivational point of view. For those who fail to finish what they start, it is a good way to improve the will. The idea is to stick to the schedule. Karate is not made from Easter, so the frequent presence in the dojo is very important. This way you also avoid muscle fever.

9.Self Defense

All of the above are results of martial arts, especially karate. By increasing agility, strength and endurance and learning defense techniques, the karate practitioner has an advantage when it comes to a conflict situation.

A LITTLE HISTORY !

1.SHOTOKAN  is the first style of Karate-Do, developed from various martial arts by Gichin Funakoshi (1868–1957) and his son Gigo (Yoshitaka) Funakoshi (1906–1945). Gichin Funakoshi was born in Okinawa and is widely recognized for popularizing "KARATE-DO" through a series of public demonstrations and promoting the development of university karate clubs, including Keio, Waseda, Hitotsubashi (Shodai), Takushoku, Chuo, Gakushuin and Hosei.

Being the most practiced style, Shotokan is considered a traditional and influential form of karate.

The Shotokan Karate training as I teach it (Sensei Daniel Farkas - black belt 2 dan) is divided into three parts: kihon (basic elements), kata (shapes or patterns of movement) and kumite (sparring). Kihon and kata techniques are characterized by deep and long positions that provide stability, allow strong movements and strengthen the legs.

Shotokan is considered a dynamic martial art because it develops anaerobic, powerful techniques as well as speed of development. Initially, strength and power are demonstrated instead of slower and flowing movements. Those who progress at the level of the brown and black belt develop a more fluid style, which incorporates techniques of locking, throwing and some techniques of locking the standing joints, which can be found even in the basic kata. Kumite (fighting) techniques are practiced in kihon and kata and developed from basic to advanced levels with an opponent.

2 .FUDOKAN - Scientific union between the martial art of traditional karate and a way of life, which is recognized and accredited by Japanese masters as an independent Fudokan Karate-Do style, on whose foundations Soke Ilija Jorga founded Fudokan as the new separate discipline (不動館 Fudokan - "House of strong foundations"). Fudokan is a sport discipline with its own sport rules. - Three ideograms of word Fudokan mean stability, hardness, robustness, house and home - Fudokan is the house with stable foundation, the house of motionless wisdom. Such will be WFF and we hope that each of you will contribute to the fulfillment of this basic idea of Sensei Prof.Dr.Iliji Jorga.

Traditional Karate: All modern forms of karate sports have originated from traditional karate (Karate-Do), from which they inherited their names. Karate itself originates from Tode, the concept that represents the system of self-defense with bare hands, without weapon, which was born in Okinawa under the influence of Chinese martial arts. In the central Japan karate became an integral part of the Budo system of Japanese martial arts, therefore the concept of traditional karate implies karate based on Budo principles. At the 101st General Assembly of the International Olympic Committee in 1993. it was established that the traditional karate is an independent sports discipline with its own sport rules which differentiate it from other karate sports (disciplines).
